What's new across the PubPulse apps

Changes shipped 1 August to 9 September 2026

Welcome to PulseNews, where we bring you up to date with the work we have been doing across the PubPulse apps — the changes that make your life easier and give you back some time.

PricePulse

Order from the cellar, not the office

The biggest addition this month is Orders. Walk the pub with your phone or tablet, type the first few letters of anything you buy, and it comes up from your own invoice history with the price you last paid. Build the order line by line with a running total, and when you are done PricePulse can split it by supplier and email each one their part — or give you a tick list, so you can go through the order with your supplier over the phone and tick items off as you go. The saved order can then be pulled straight back up to check the delivery when it arrives. Losing signal in the cellar is no problem: it carries on locally until signal returns.

If you buy the same product from more than one supplier, it shows you the cheaper option, and you can save orders as drafts and come back to them.

Orders is included in your PricePulse subscription at no extra cost. See what PricePulse costs →

Compare two suppliers side by side

A new report puts any two suppliers next to each other, product by product, over whatever date range you choose — so you can see exactly where each one is cheaper before you pick up the phone. In one real three-month comparison, taking the cheaper supplier line by line came to £1,540.36 net.

PricePulse's two-supplier comparison report. It shows 16 products both suppliers carry and a potential saving of £1,540.36 for the period, then a table giving each product's latest price from each supplier, with the cheaper one highlighted and the difference in pounds and per cent — Stella Unfiltered, for example, £185.75 from one and £154.12 from the other. Supplier names are blurred.
The two-supplier comparison in PricePulse, from a real pub's invoices over three months. The eight biggest gaps of the sixteen products are shown; supplier names are blurred.

Every report can now be printed or saved as a PDF to take into a supplier meeting, price-alert history included.

More invoices read first time

PricePulse now reads invoices that have no text layer and no conventional header row, and where the standard reader cannot make sense of a layout, an AI fallback steps in. In plain terms: PricePulse reads your invoices first time, whatever the layout, scanned ones included.

Worth remembering that PricePulse asks you to key in nothing at all. Every figure it reports on is taken from your invoices. Most of them arrive as a PDF attached to an email, so you drag them into PricePulse and it does the rest, instantly.

Selling Price Advisor

The optional add-on that turns your cost prices into recommended till prices has had a run of improvements driven by real use: per-unit pricing for snacks sold from a box, a dilution yield for post-mix, bag-in-box and cordials, separate target GP for single and double measures on spirits, and a Cost Data Health page that points at anything in your product list that would throw the numbers off — with a link straight to the source invoice.

The Advisor is an optional add-on rather than part of the subscription — the pricing page carries the figure.

RotaPulse

Last week’s rota, forward in one tap

Copy this week and Clear this week now sit directly on the rota page, alongside a Notify staff of this week’s rota button that sends everyone their shifts by SMS or email in one tap.

Staff see the whole picture

Staff can now view the full rota, not only their own shifts, so they know who they are working with. Shift-swap requests use a simple colleague picker, and open shifts can be dragged onto the grid or added straight from it.

Clock-in you can trust

Admins see actual clock-in and clock-out times, can correct a time when someone forgets, and can approve an ad-hoc clock-in for an unplanned shift. Staff who have not clocked in get an automatic text. Overnight shifts are now costed correctly across midnight.

Smoother onboarding and day-to-day admin

Invites can be resent or switched between email and SMS, new starters get a welcome message and a prompt to add RotaPulse to their phone’s home screen, and there is a proper mobile menu. Admins can cancel approved leave, reinstate someone marked as left, manage staff roles, record start dates for work-anniversary reminders, and choose which admin notifications they receive.

DiaryPulse

Take event enquiries from your own website

DiaryPulse now gives you an enquiry form you can embed on your pub’s own website. Customers pick an event type and a date, the form checks the diary for availability, and the enquiry lands in DiaryPulse as a pending booking for your staff to follow up — with an automatic acknowledgement going back to the customer. It resizes to fit a phone and carries a discreet “Powered by PubPulse” footer.

Quicker diary housekeeping

Add an event straight from the day view with the date already filled in, manage your own event types (add, rename, show or hide) in Settings, sort the diary list by any column, and read the month view more easily with equal-width days.

TaskPulse

A quieter month on the surface. The staff checklist area now requires a login, a layout glitch that pushed the tick and cross buttons off the card on expanded tasks is fixed, and it received the same security, billing and reliability work as the rest of the family.

Across the whole family

One account, clearer billing

Every app now shows its subscription on a consistent page with a link to a self-service billing portal. Prices are shown excluding VAT with VAT added at checkout, the free 30-day trial is the same everywhere, and cancelling and re-subscribing no longer resets anything unexpectedly. Logging in from a staff link or a saved home-screen icon takes you back to the app you started from.

Behind the scenes: security and resilience

With real pubs now relying on the apps, August and September went heavily on the unglamorous work. Every app now has rate limiting, security headers and cross-site request protection. The admin console at PubPulse HQ has a second login factor, adding further protection to customer data, and all traffic is forced to HTTPS. Databases are backed up off-site every day with 30 days of history, and we have rehearsed restoring a single pub’s data from those backups and documented the procedure — however unlikely it is that we would ever need it.

Logos and images were shrunk from megabytes down to kilobytes, so pages load faster. Helpful if you are on a phone in the cellar.
